Magento Gallery extension can be used to showcase the images on your store. A group of similar Images can be clubbed under Albums which are displayed in gallery. You can have albums inside of another album to further categorise the images.

So hierarchy is like Gallery > Albums -> Images/Albums

Once installed Gallery Menu will be added in main navigation of Magento admin panel With 2 Submenus-
1) Manage Gallery- Here you can manage all images appearing in gallery.
2) Manage Albums- Here you can create different albums to clubb similar images inside. Albums can have child albums too.

http://magento-store-URL/gallery  – Will display all Albums.
http://magento-store-URL/gallery/view/id/XX  – will disaply all images /albums within that album.

With little customization same extension can  also be used for adding sliders.
